On August 4, 2016 I was the guest of Chris Boyer, a pilot and conservation photographer, on a flight over Montana. We departed Bozeman early that morning and headed south over Ted Turner's Flying D Ranch along Spanish Creek and on to the Spanish Peaks. We soared among the mountains like an eagle with Chris giving me photo tips along the way. Next came Big Sky Resort and then we flew west near the Ennis airport. The contrast between the pristine peaks and the ski slope development was shocking. The return leg from Ennis gives one a picture of the magnitude of ranching and agriculture in Montana.

I have selected a few images to journal the trip. They are in chronological order. Flight time was approximately one hour. Our plane was a bright red Cessna 172 which was manufactured in 1957. That’s right, 59 years before our flight.
